Here is a picture Kate and I made in Religion. It is the story of Waris Deeri, this is her story:
1. When she was a youing girl she was "cut" or genitile mutilation took place to her as a part of a Muslim tradition in her tribe.
2. Later a marraige to a much older man was arranged so she ran away with the help of her mother.
3. Her aunt helped get her to London where she lived with another aunt who treated her as a maid. Later there was a war in Somalia so her aunt left her in London. There she made friends.
4. She worked in a Fast Food restaurant where a famous fashion photographer spotted her and gave her his card.
5. She got her picture taken and soon became a famous top model. Then she spoke in the UN on behalf of all females who were mutilated.
6. Later she got married and is famous for her modelling and as a spokesperson.
I really enjoyed watching this movie and listening to her story as this was the first time I had heard of what goes on in these muslim countries. I also felt proud and happy for Waris as she was so brave to do what she did and I think that she is a brilliant role model for all women. Not only those who live in the underdeveloped world but also to everyone who feel they have few oppurtunities or think that it is impossible to acheive their dreams. That is why I admire her and enjoyed watching her life story.

A Nut Crack"ing" Ballet!
Two weeks ago we went to the Nut Cracker Ballet in Belvodere College, it was by the National Youth Ballet. It was very enjoyable especially because most ballerinas were my age or younger. They were very graceful and didn't make one mistake. I was so impressed at how they all remembered each detailed routine. I especially loved looking at their beautiful costumes which were detailed to suit each different scene.
After the ballet we went to Mac Donald's. Yum! Altogether it was a really great trip and I really enjoyed it.

Don Giovanni... :)
On Tuesday we went to see the opera Don Giovanni. It was 4 hours long and we saw it at the cinema, it was a live performance from the Met Opera house in New York.I found it a bit long and drawn out however this was my first ever opera so I have nothing to compare it to. I admit the actors/singers were incredible they held notes for an amazing amount of time and I admire them for that. The story was about Don Giovanni an Italian "lady's man" and the story of how he left a trail of women after him. In the end he was taken to hell by a the father of a women that he left. Very dramatic!!!

These Are A Few Of My Favoutire Things...
I love that song... :) I'm so excited for our school musical! I am playing clarinet in the orchestra and I'm constantly practising for the big night. I hope everything goes well as there will be a huge crowd. The actors and singers are really impressive, it looks so professional. Everyone in my class has something to do whether its make-up, hair, costumes, set, props etc. Its going to be great!!!

What A Day...
What a day... It started with going to the National Library where we saw letters and diaries from history. Also I talked to an American tourist, she was really nice and used to live where my friend Sarah is from in America. Its a small world !!!! Next we went to see Bog Bodies it was AMAZING. Seeing bodies that havent decomposed for thousands of years and still have hair, teeth and skin. I know it sounds disgusting but most of us found it fascinating. It looked like they were all asleep as they were killed on purpose as a human sacrifices. The funny thing was they all had red hair, if anyone reading this knows why please tell me... Afterwards we had a look in the gift shop and got a bit pre occupied with the toys so were 5 minutes late coming out and delayed lunch. Woops! Anyway, next we went to the W.B Yeats museum. Now to tell you the truth I'm not a major fan of Yeats poetry but afterwards I was amazed at his life story. Kate and I went to Mc Donalds for lunch Mmmmmm. Unfortunately we were late... again much to the disgust of our teachers. Later we saw Juno and The Paycock. It was brilliant!! Except for the girls from Belfast who laughed the whole time. If you're reading this... Shame on you!!!! Anyway it was still a great performance and a great day. :)

BLOG ACTION DAY...
Today my blog is dedicated to Blog Action Day...
What surprises me as a person living in the 21st century, a time where anything is possible. Amazing technologists, ingenious scientists and overall a very creative and imaginitave human race. Is that yet we can invent, create and imagine all of these futuristic ideas some of the simplest and in my opinion most important issues are not yet solved. Such as hunger, an astounding fact that I came across was that every 5 seconds a child dies of hunger in the third world. In this day and age even the simple problem of not having food is common. We underestimate the importance of food so much. One issue that needs to be raised is the waste of food, mostly by members of the first world. There are nearly one billion malnourished people in the world, but the approximately 40 million tonnes of food wasted by US households, retailers and food services each year would be enough to satisfy the hunger of every one of them. I got this piece of information from the website of Feeding the 5000. And only if this issue was raised more often we could save millions of peoples lives every year. You dont need to be a rocket scientist to understand that!!!

Educating Essex... :)
Today in religion class we watched channel 4's Educating Essex. We all saw how a girl called "Gaby" was cyberbullied and how 2 friends solved an argument. It helped me to see how even girls who are against bullying and were prefects can do things that are bullying and against what they stand for. This was something that I never thought about before and is a big issue in schools today...

PROJECTS
Who said that this would be an easy year?? With geography, irish, french, music, science, business and religion projects I am completely stressed. Where do I begin?! Well at least now we have the fun walk to look forward to. Our theme colour is yellow but I cant tell you our idea... Its top secret. All I can say is Fodla will win this year. Unlike the past 3 years where my old class Alder repeatedly lost every year, we were a great group but lets just say our dances werent exactly the winning type... :)

my religion project.............
What a success we presented our project amazingly to the class, everyone was hanging at the edge of their seats as Kate and I dramatically read our heart throbbing account on Child Mortality. It brought a tear to everyones eye as we described the brutal facts............... Well that was a bit of an exaggeration but it still went well!! :)

I really didnt expect TY to be this good!!!!!!
